Meet Our Animal Friends

We are delighted to share with our guests the main residents of Julian Farm and Orchard. Our furry, feathered, and muddy friends are as charming and unique as they come!

Our educational field-trip programs connect our sanctuary with school-aged kids to learn more about animals and their care. Your donation helps us continue to help these animals - and more in the future.

Your donation to our Animal Sanctuary helps provide loving care to our rescued friends along with food, vet care and more. We have rescued two 30-year-old show donkeys, a cow, goats, sheep, chickens and over 25 pot belly pigs who were dumped along a state highway.

Stories on Just a Few of Our Furry Friends

Joe & Chewy

Joe and Chewy came from a family friend of the previous Julian Farm and Orchard owners, Gina and Ryan Cross. These miniature donkeys are around 20 years old. Chewy was given his name when he would chew the barn wood at Julian Mining Company. They are very sweet and social but can be very ornery sometimes and will escape if given the chance! There have been many adventures chasing these two around the farm. Chewy and Joey are shy, but affectionate Donkeys. Together with very vocal Percy the cow, they started the folk metal band “Farmed and Dangerous” you can catch them practicing in the meadow at all hours!

Domino

Domino is approximately 8 years old. He was born at Julian Mining Company. He likes to watch the other goats from high above on the big rocks throughout the farm. Domino does enjoy a pet or two on the side of his big belly.

Percy is 4 years old and is believed to be half dexter. She was a birthday gift to the previous owner Gina Cross from her husband Ryan. Gina bottle feed Percy as a baby. The two would lie besides one another and Percy would rest her head in Gina's lap.

Elvis

Elvis is our protective and fantastic Rooster or “Roo”. He is a great communicator and always lets his hens have first treats. We also have several “Easter Egger” hens who lay pink, blue and green eggs!!!

Michael "Jordan"

Jordan likes to jump high and dunk his head into treat cups. He is very friendly and always the entertainer.

Melvin Gordon

Melvin Gordon is our “Top Buck” and a gentle giant to everyone…unless your another goat near his food. He was born at Julian Mining Company, in the pasture, with his twin sister Mimi. For years the twins and their "big momma' slept together. Melvin loves to cuddle and be scratched under his chin. He is almost 13 years old.

Morgan

Morgan is the sister of Melvin Gordon. She was also born at Julian Mining Company and has mothered many babies over the years.

Bun Bun

Bun Bun is our newest addition to the farm, arriving around Easter. She is potty trained and loves to be pet. While she is not actually albino, she probably IS the biggest rabbit you’ve ever seen!

The Twins

Our tiny goat twins are actually 10 years old…JUST KIDDING! But they aren’t little kids anymore; just very little!

Bubba

Bubba came from Oak Glen near Riley’s Farm. Bubba and his brother Louie were runaway pigs from a nearby farm. Bubba lived at the Julian Mining Company until 2008 when his brother Louie passed away. Since Julian Farm and Orchard has been his home. Even with all the freedom to come and goes as he pleases, Bubba prefers his little space. Bubba likes to move his bed around from time to time and is rather clean. One of his favorite things is a good belly scratch. His least favorite foods are greens and lettuces, but he LOVES bread for a snack!

Elsa & Anna

These two twin girls are Babydoll Sheep and love to spend every day during the spring grazing alongside the goats. They have been chased around the farm more than once.
